Reviews for Acer Aspire One AO751h-1273 11.6-Inch White Netbook - 8 Hour Battery Life
The perfect little netbook!!
I'll keep it simple. We wanted a little netbook to primarily to use while sitting in front of the TV or while we traveled. This was the perfect purchase for us. Most of our activities on this little guy is surfing the internet, but from time to time we will watch a movie or listen to music while on a plane.
The screen size is great. The battery is unbelievable. Connecting to the internet and home network was a snap. We highly recommend this netbook to anyone that wants a great value while keeping the cost low.
Just perfect!
I just bought this (Acer Aspire One AO751h-1273 11.6-Inch White Netbook - 8 Hour Battery Life)great item from Amazon.com and it's just perfect!
Recommend it to everybody...I believe it's the best netbook eve made! — $M.C$
Acer Aspire One - works fine - great service
OK, I was worried about speed running Vista on a 1.3mhz processor but with the 2gb memory is runs just fine for the surfing and MS 2007 Word the machine is used for.
Awesome battery life! Readable screen - the 10 inch models are just a little to small for me.
One problem when the machine arrived the charger did not work. Customer Service was great and FAST - turned out it was the last item we looked - the power cord - which was unbelievable but that is what it was. I had never owned an ACER but based on their customer service I would NOT hesitate to buy another.
Perfect for its intended use.
This computer is great, within the scope of its intended use. It loads up quickly, it opens programs like Google Chrome, and Open Office Writer as quickly as any computer. Once you remove some of the useless programs, and bloat-ware this little computer is a work-horse.
250GB Hard-drive: With the 250GB hard-drive I am using this netbook to process and store my pictures. The hard-drive gets a 5.4 on the Windows Experience Index. I haven't tried to run Photoshop or something like that off of it, but is perfect for saving, and sorting your images straight from the memory card of your camera. Which leads me to my next point, the screen.
1366x768, 11.6" LED LCD, HD Screen: The size of the screen makes it very easy to work with, especially given the zoom features on the multi-gesture touch pad. It is large enough to watch youtube at its native size, and HD size. The screen is bright, visible in daylight and the resolution is awesome. Due to the large netbook screen Acer was able to accommodate a fullsize key board.
Multi-Gesture Touch pad: Although I have already mentioned one benefit of the touch pad, it actually has three great features. The previously stated feature was the zoom feature, due to the size of the screen, even though it is quite large, you are able to flick your fingers apart on the touch pad and it will zoom in and bring them together zooms out. With two fingers you can scroll horizontally, and with one finger you can move it in a circular motion to scroll up and down a page without having to let go. The touchpad is also a great size, it is not as tiny as I have seen on many other netbooks, I haven't noticed a size difference from my fullsize laptop to this one.
Full size keyboard: Although the keys are full size, not all the buttons are exactly the size and located in the places they are in a desktop keyboard. The good news is that there is a tiny learning curve, I haven't actually had to concentrate on working the keyboard. Another nice thing about the keyboard is what I think is referred to as "chiclet keys." They are like the keys on a Mac, and this makes them very easy to clean. The keys also have a nice amount of space between them so as to make it easier to to type.
Battery Life: At high performance, I can pull about 8 hours out of it according to the meter with the wireless on. On power saver I can get more than 9 hours on it, with the wireless on. The netbook charges pretty fast too. On battery life, this netbooks excels given the huge hard drive, the 2 gigs of ram, and the big screen. This laptop comes with a 6 cell battery, that is a must if you want decent battery life. Some other cheaper netbooks have a 3 cell, and they only get about 3-4hrs per charge. Look out for the 9 cell when they come out.
Atom Z520 1.33ghz: The weakest point in terms of performance but a strong point in terms of efficiency. This is the latest processor for the netbooks, it works with less electricity than other processors. It gets a 1.9 in the Windows Experience Index. If you think this isn't enough, overclock to 1.7ghz which I think is the limit with this processor. If you choose to go that route, there is plenty of information out there.
Ram: Lots of it, 2 gigs, more than you need for a netbook, but its there. The ram gets a 4.1 score in the Windows Experience Index. Nice to have since you are running Vista with this machine.
Graphics: The graphics are great, I have not complaints. The graphics gets a 2.9 on the Windows Experience Index, and 3.1 for gaming graphics.
I am probably missing a few nice points of this laptop but here are other features that come with this laptop are 3 USB port, a VGA output, an Ultra Thin design, WiFi, Bluetooth, memory card slot, and a small power adapter. It comes with Vista, which is great for security, and runs solid even if people love to hate the latest OS. Vista is also great because it is an easy upgrade to Windows 7. The laptop comes a program called eSobi v2, which I have fallen in love with for keeping track of news. Vista comes with an email program, and a nice calendar system too.
Other notes: I would definitely recommend Google Chrome, and Open Office, both free, and both very good. You should also switch the settings on Vista to "Best Performance," it will look kinda plain but the performance is better. Generally, look around online and learn how to tweak all your settings to get the most out of you laptop (unlike other reviewers which expect it to meet their every need instantly, and with out any work on their part). Make sure you install all the updates from Microsoft. Comment on this review with any questions, I'll check back every now and then. I will update my review as time goes on, I have only had the laptop for 3 weeks.
the most inefficient computer I have ever seen..
If you are looking for even an average computer stay away from this one. It needs 19 seconds to open an excell and 10 seconds to open any web browser while no application is on at that moment. It freezes 3-4 times a day (assuming 8 hours usage per day). Another illustrative example is that, you can use it for only text chatting, if the audio and/or video is open, processor goes 100 % performance and you can only wait unless you get frustrated and reset it.
Now I am returning it to amazon.com with a 15 % loss but it relly worth this!!
